i have windows 7 ultimate and i heard about windows xp mode and was wondering why it wasnt on my computer.

no, you need to download virtual pc 2007, and download xp mode for microsoft. this is all free

No, you will need to download both the virtual pc program and the xp mode update from
its a really quite simple and useful. Though you probably want to install antivirus, because it can get infected.

The “XP Mode” is a separate, downloadable add-on that runs a full, virtual, XP environment to guarantee related things will work.
Unless you have custom made XP applications like some businesses do, however, you’re unlikely to need it.
Most widespread XP programs will work just fine with the built in compatibility mode. When you go to install them, right click on the install file, select properties, and select one of the XP options on the compatibility tab. In some cases you might need to do that to the executable you use to run the installed program.
But you’re actually very unlikely as a consumer to have use for the “XP Mode” add-on.
