Over the years, I've been a supporter of Microsoft, simply because they had the best operating system going. That's no longer true, and they intend, next year, to dump the best one they've had in 10 years - Windows XP. Vista is a mess, one they've not tried to fix, as they pursue their intention of buying Yahoo. Whether or not that succeeds, may determine what comes next. I'm afraid Windows 7 will be just as big a flop as Vista, but Microsoft is NOT going to listen to consumers. They will only listen to their major stockholders and BIG commercial accounts. Unfortunately. They ran Windows 98 long past its prime, but seem to be willing to dump a better OS. Oh well. I'm keeping XP, whatever I have to do.

Lighten the load and add more remove/add options so you can decide how much of a load you want to put on your system.
With Xp, you have a lot of good options, but they still didn't go far enough for some of us and made Vista even heavier with little option to improve upon it.
They should also make it compatible with as many existing drivers and devices as possible if they are going to get in a hurry to release it like they did Vista.
Or at least release promotional disks to software manufacturers as soon as possible so they can do something with it.

better security, have anti virus integrated into the OS. better backwards compatibility. a better price for the OS upgrades. Vista can be good if your computer is fast or powerful.
