I currently have ASUS G50VT-X5 Gaming Laptop and it has Windows Vista 64 bit Home Premium. and my question is which is better for gaming? Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade or Windows 7 Professional Upgrade?

and will it clear out all the files in my Windows Vista 64 bit?
also, whats the difference between Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade or Windows 7 Professional Upgrade?

Either one is fine for gaming, and I would lean towards Home Premium as it will be cheaper than professional.

As long as you are using the upgrade version on a Windows Vista system (and not Windows XP), none of your old files will be lost. You may have to recreate some shortcuts for applications that are installed to other-than-normal directories, but nothing other than the core of Windows will be overwritten.

You can do an upgrade install to have your files and settings transfer over, but a fresh install would be preferable.

Either should be the same for gaming — no difference in that arena. Professional just adds a couple things like Group Policy controls.
