    If you shrink the partition with vista on it first, and then install 7 onto the unallocated space, then you won’t lose anything. You can shrink partitions in the disk manager, which I believe you bring up by typing diskmgmt.msc into the run box.

    I would advise Virtual Machines rather than repartitioning. It easier, MS version if free, and if you have 2 + GB RAM and a decent machine the VMS run great.

    Hello pickedoff-

    There is always a risk this may happen when Beta versions of OS’s are utilized. Here is what Microsoft has to say about the risk of data loss that may occur when you download Windows 7 (See 5th tab down- Are there risks in installing the Beta).
