Microsoft Windows 7

If I remember correctly, Microsoft is cutting XP updates April of this year.? If that is true it would be a good idea to upgrade but why upgrade to Vista (downgrade really) if 7 will be out this year or next year and then have to upgrade again. Should I wait? Should I buy Vista and then upgrade once 7 is out.???

I am looking at a new Dell XPS to replace my current XPS.

Thanks for the opinions.
I do not think it would be real good to have 98 again. Most of today’s software is geared toward XP and Vista.
Yeah, my problem with Vista is I do not like the hard startups and shutdowns. I have a newer laptop I got at the beginning of 08 and I just do not like it…I get all kinds of errors and alot of software that I got with the laptop does not work properly…Why buy something when something else is coming out within a few months to a year.

If you are comfortable with what you’ve got don’t feel you need to be up to date with technology i am on windows 98 myself

Wait and go strait to 7 we need people to bring 7 in and work the bugs out for windows to do the fixes on it. So other folks don’t waste the money on it.

what do you mean?? if you buy a new computer it will come with IE7. I’ve been on vista since it’s been out, and i had many problems with vista. There was problems with programs that ran on XP and didn’t work
and didn’t on vista. MS fixed that very quickly, programs are abundant
and powerful, but some are kinda pricey. Also there is a steep learning curve. all in all i wouldn’t go back to XP, and like vista now that many bugs and ghosts in the machine have been beaten back. You will find that vista is a good program, be careful what you delete, and read your instruction book, learn vista, and happy computing

The majority of the complaints about Vista come from trying to run it on old, underpowered hardware. It should be fine on a new PC as long as you have a dual core or quad core processor and at least 2GB of RAM.

As for Windows 7, it’s not due out until mid-2010 and Microsoft’s ship dates always slip. I remember people who didn’t want to upgrade to XP in 2001 because it was buggy and bloated and they wanted to wait for Longhorn (the code name for Vista), which was originally due out around 2003.
