Directx 9 will work okay but the C++ redistribution is a problem. I have tried Windows 7 on my notebook and had tons of C++ errors and permission errors I had to restore my laptop and just run with Vista. Keep in mind its a Beta there are a few bugs that needs to be fixed before the final release. Its better to install Windows 7 in a virtual environment instead.
