Hi there,
I’m unsure if Windows 7 is expected to fall on 5th of May. Personally, I don’t think it will. Let’s say it did become public release on 5th May, you wouldn’t be able to purchase computers with it pre-installed in stores at that time.
You’ll probably have to wait at least 6 months after the original release date to purchase computers with it pre-installed.

it very hard to buy instantly when it comes out.. as it also takes time for windows vista to come on all the brand. you have to wait otherwise in hurry it may be possible that you can choose wrong thing.
you can check out some more info of windows on this site.

The Release Candidate is coming out on May 5, and you’d download it directly from Microsoft — it’s still technically a testing version, and it will expire in early 2010.
The final software isn’t expected until sometime later this year, or maybe the start of 2010, but there’s expected to be a free upgrade system for those buying new computers with Vista Home Premium or above beginning June 26, 2009. Microsoft hasn’t formally announced it yet though.
Anyway, no, you cannot buy a Windows 7 computer on May 5. It’s at least several months off before you’d be able to buy a computer that has Windows 7 pre-installed on it, but the upgrade plan would likely be just a couple months away and would be more-or-less the equivalent.
