    Your files will be fine. Make sure you use the Seven upgrade instead of performing a clean install.

    In August, or whatever the expiration date is for the Seven beta, you will have to pay for the standard release of the OS.

    you will have to reinstall vista if you want to install windows 7you should dual boot windows 7 beta ends 8-1 2009 and windows 7 will be out late 2009
